Don't:

❌ Don't submit AI-generated content as your own work — it may constitute academic misconduct.

❌ Don't share personal, sensitive, or copyrighted data with AI tools. Don’t give GenAI tools access to personal data, primary research data collected as part of your course without consent, copyrighted materials or university intellectual property (e.g., teaching materials provided by a School, including assessment questions and briefs). Always Avoid sharing personal, financial, or confidential information with AI platforms.

❌ Don't upload original content of your own unless you are comfortable with how the GenAI tool may use that content in the future. Any original content of your own may be used to train the AI, and potentially eventually be incorporated into other students’ work who use the same GenAI for a similar purpose.

❌ Don't rely solely on AI for academic research, writing, or assessments.

❌ Don't trust AI-generated citations without verifying authenticity.

❌ Don't use AI bots to attend online classes or meetings for you, or to take notes for you. By doing this you could be sharing sensitive information discussed in meetings with an external party that has not been approved. Sole use of an AI notetaking bot will not provide the same level of learning experience as using your own comprehension.

❌ Don’t run software generated by AI code without fully understanding how it works and the action it will perform.

❌ Don’t rely solely on AI for assessments. AI tools can undermine your development of key academic skills like critical thinking and writing.

❌ Don’t trust AI-generated references. AI tools often fabricate citations and references. Always use trusted referencing tools.

❌ Don’t bypass your university's rules. Unauthorised use of AI in assessments or coursework can lead to serious consequences.
