Autistic students form what the research literature repeatedly describes as a highly heterogeneous group — there is no single academic or social profile that applies to every autistic student, and two students with the same diagnosis may need very different support. What does recur across the evidence is the outsized role of anxiety: unpredictability, not autism itself, is very often the largest barrier to learning, and once anxiety takes hold it can affect concentration far more than any inherent difficulty with the subject matter.
